Package: apt
Version: 1.0.9.8.3

Hi,

apt-daily calls apt-get check to ensure that the cache database can be
locked correctly (cf. LP#131719) and that "the cache is clean".
By doing that check, however, apt-daily exits prematurely therefore
preventing unattended-upgrades from "repairing" the dpkg database even
if it is configured to do so.

As suggested on IRC, perhaps apt-daily could detect such cases and
call dpkg --configure -a (just like u-a does) if a given option is
set?

What do you think?

Cheers,
