package: winbind version: 3.0.14a-3sarge1 When our (AD) domain controller was restarted, ntlm auth through winbind stopped working with the obscure error message "invalid computer name".
In http://groups.google.com/group/linux.samba/browse_thread/thread/261dcae9776a240b/83023e73235f8157 someone else reports the same issue, and provides the trivial solution: restart winbind. While the solution is simple, the error message is obscure (and the winbind log does not list anything useful BTW) and the error should not occur anyway, IMO. Present at least in sarge winbind.
