At the moment, the rhytmbox application is the only application (from a
normal gnome installation) which make use from the avahi-daemon. I think
most people won't run this daemon (memory consumption, boot time,
security issues, etc.), but now they are forced to run this.

May be you can use an /etc/default/avahi file to let the people choose,
if the daemon should be started or not.

 Unfortunately, if you don't install avahi-daemon, Rhythmbox display an
 error message on start (see #343051).

 That's a request for the avahi-daemon then, please file a bug against
 avahi-daemon requesting that.

 That's not a reason for using a Recommends instead of a Depends. :)
