Package: voctomix Severity: wishlist Hi,
so I tried to setup voctomix "from scratch" on a stretch system… and failed. Here's what I tried: - voctocore and voctomix running on a machine connected to a simple DV camera, streaming this in the local network. Things I have observed: - There are systemd service files in /u/s/doc/voctomix/examples - There is no configuration file in /etc/voctomix/voctocore.ini though vocto* reads it if its there. (There are default configs applying if it aint there.) - voctocore and the sources need to agree on the same resolution. (the default resolution from voctocore is not DV and it's not trivial to find out how to modify it… (the above info should alsmost do ;-) - there are example scripts for sources, but there is none for a DV cam. - https://github.com/CarlFK/voctomix-outcasts contains ingest.py, which can be used as a script to attach a DV cam with audio+video. ./ingest.py --video-source dv --audio-source dv - I don't yet have an idea how to setup the streaming sink, but it seems besides that one also needs to install nginx or another webserver. - For running voctomix on less powerful machines it would be nice to also have configuration how to tune down the ressources needs of the GUI. - While for a production setup running with automatic started services is nice, it's not clear that everything can (and probably should be started from the commandline like this: voctocore -v voctogui -v (and the sinks and sources too…) All this info should probably go in README.Debian eventually. -- cheers, Holger
