v098 is already 6-month old according to the upstream tags [1], this
should qualify as reasonably outdated already.

Perhaps you could provide v101 in experimental at least, to give an
opportunity to Debian users to test the latest version of the software
and confirm the significance of the performance penalty you claimed
above.
