When attempting to use GTK features, such as -display gtk, the following error
is printed:

qemu-system-x86_64: -display gtk,gl=on: GTK support is disabled

Please begin building Debian qemu packages with GTK enabled. This is a very
useful feature already enabled in other distributions I use.

I am sure there are package dependency issues. If they are severe enough, I
suggest building a separate qemu-gtk package.

Yes, the dependency issues are a bit too severe to my taste.

I tried to make display modular in qemu, but failed, because
sdl1 which is currently used can't be made modular (it requires
replacing main() function with its wrapper), sdl2 support in
qemu isn't as mature as sdl1 (not everything work), and generally
display isn't easy to modularize.

It is more, gtk support weren't complete as well, lacking several
features available in sdl1.

It was maybe 2 years ago, and I don't really know at which state
things are now.

Also, making separate package isn't really that easy: we'll have
to create additional package for every of all various different
architectures (x86, sparc, mips, etc).

This is JFYI, I'll try to take a look.

Thanks,
