The option in Preferences is called "Allow batch scanning from flatbed". Selecting it should prevent it always defaulting to #pages=1. I take your point, however. If the default scan options use the ADF, and the previous scan was with #pages=all, then that should be selected the next time the program is started. I'll take a look.
