Package: gv Version: 1:3.7.4-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
gv started having problems with PDF files after upgrading ghostscript from version 9.06~dfsg-2+deb8u1 to 9.06~dfsg-2+deb8u3. When opening a PDF file, gv shows a dialog window with the following message: Execution of gs -P- -dSAFER -dDELAYSAFER -dNODISPLAY -dQUIET -sPDFname=/tmp/policy.pdf -sDSCname=/tmp/gv_policy_pdf.mZ3b7u pdf2dsc.ps -c quit failed. At the same time, gv prints the following text on stdout: Error: /invalidaccess in --.locksafe-- Operand stack: --dict:1170/1684(ro)(G)-- getenv --nostringval-- Execution stack: %interp_exit .runexec2 --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-- 2 %stopped_push --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-- false 1 %stopped_push 1910 1 3 %oparray_pop 1909 1 3 %oparray_pop 1893 1 3 %oparray_pop 1787 1 3 %oparray_pop --nostringval-- %errorexec_pop .runexec2 --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-- 2 %stopped_push --nostringval-- 1924 0 3 %oparray_pop 1923 0 3 %oparray_pop --nostringval-- Dictionary stack: --dict:1170/1684(ro)(G)-- --dict:0/20(G)-- --dict:79/200(L)-- Current allocation mode is local Current file position is 1899 gv is able to display the PDF file in spite of this error, but the navigation controls are crippled. The file cannot be scrolled backwards and the page list control is empty. I suspect that this problem is an unintended side-effect of fixing CVE-2013-5653 (see bug #839118).
