In 1.12, the icon in the panel is a plugin (new framework). Please go to "Tools" -> "Preferences" -> "Plugins" and check that the "Tray Icon" plugin is unticked. Tick it and verify that the icon appears in the panel. Please check if it works after enabling (maybe you also experience bug 840193). Paul
