Package: ftp.debian.org Severity: normal Dear FTP masters,
Please remove the firebird2.5 source package and the corresponding binary packages from unstable. According to the roadmap¹, upstream intents to drop support for Firebird 2.5 in 2017. ¹ http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/roadmap/ Debian has the next major version 3.0 in sid/stretch, so I want to avoid the need to support for stretch two variants of the codebase, one of them possibly without upstream supprt. Thank you, dam dmn@coccia:~$ dak rm -n -R -s sid -m 'ROM; deprecated upstream, replaced by firebird3.0' firebird2.5 Will remove the following packages from sid: firebird2.5 | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | source firebird2.5-classic | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, powerpc, ppc64el, s390x firebird2.5-classic-common | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, powerpc, ppc64el, s390x firebird2.5-common | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, powerpc, ppc64el, s390x firebird2.5-common-doc | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | all firebird2.5-doc | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | all firebird2.5-examples | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | all firebird2.5-server-common | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, powerpc, ppc64el, s390x firebird2.5-super | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, powerpc, ppc64el, s390x firebird2.5-superclassic | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, powerpc, ppc64el, s390x libfbembed2.5 | 2.5.6.27020.ds4-3 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, powerpc, ppc64el, s390x Maintainer: Debian Firebird Group <[email protected]> ------------------- Reason ------------------- ROM; deprecated upstream, replaced by firebird3.0 ---------------------------------------------- Checking reverse dependencies...
