You may want to read the top of gnupg/common/dotlock.c to see why we use this scheme. It is the only _portable_ way of doing advisory locks _across platforms_. FWIW, GNOME uses the same code. Shalom-Salam, Werner -- Die Gedanken sind frei. Ausnahmen regelt ein Bundesgesetz.
