I cannot reproduce this; git installs fine for me on stretch amd64. Your error suggests that you are installing git 1:2.9.3-1, but that has not been the current version in stretch for a week now. Is your archive mirror out of sync? What is the output of ‘apt-cache policy git git-man’? Can you retry the installation with aptitude, which often gives more useful error messages? Anders
