Was just about to do that. I did have a look at that repo too, but it seems like it's out of sync with the latest Debian source in sid (unless I've missed something). They both have their own versions of 0.8.1-3.
Also, for now, I have represented my changes as patches in the debian/patches directory without modifying the upstream source. It seems a little confusing managing Debian changes upstream as well, unless it was a native package. I will push my changes based on the imported Debian source for now, so you can check the changes. It shouldn't be too difficult to rebase the changes later on once that repo is in sync. I'll do that as soon as it's updated.
