Package: hal-device-manager
Version: 0.5.5.1-5
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

if you launch hal-device-manager when dbus daemon isn't running (hald
daemon too) :

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ LANG=C hal-device-manager
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/hal-device-manager", line 20, in ?
    DeviceManager()
  File "/usr/share/hal/device-manager/DeviceManager.py", line 57, in __init__
    self.bus = dbus.SystemBus()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/dbus/_dbus.py", line 252, in __new__
    return Bus.__new__(cls, Bus.TYPE_SYSTEM, use_default_mainloop, private)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/dbus/_dbus.py", line 99, in __new__
    bus._connection = dbus_bindings.bus_get(bus_type, private)
  File "dbus_bindings.pyx", line 1695, in dbus_bindings.bus_get
dbus_bindings.DBusException: Failed to connect to socket
/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

It's a 'normal' behaviour, but it should display a proper error I think
(like a message box for ex.).
