This doesn't choke when I install it, I just get:

 Setting up global (5.7.1-2) ...
 Install global for emacs
 <all done>

But obviously, that's because I'm vim people and don't have emacs
installed ...  so thanks for doing some digging and pointing at
what new hoops this needs to jump through for people who do.

I _think_ -3 should all be happy with the new emacs policy now,
which I'll upload shortly, but if it still doesn't play nice for
you for some reason, let me know and we'll try again.

There's another issue with the actual elisp code reported here: #306085,
so if (as suggested there) someone who uses emacs and speaks its dialect
of lisp has a tested patch for any of these, I'll be happy to apply it,
but I'm probably not the one you want stabbing at that part of it in the
dark as your first choice.

The goto-line one at least doesn't appear to be fixed in the new upstream
code, so if it actually causes a problem for people using this, it will
need a patch written still one way or the other.
