I had coreutils version 5.0.91-2 and when I upgraded to
amavisd-new 2.3.3-2 I received this error:

chown: unrecognized option `--preserve-root'

dpkg: error processing amavisd-new (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
amavisd-new
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
This was solved by upgrading coreutils to the the current stable
version 5.2.1-2 0
Before I upgraded:
sfm:~# apt-cache policy coreutils
