To put it very bluntly, the new evdev driver is a regression in a number
of ways, from lack of xkb support, to no way to configure mice handling,
and most importantly, to the complete lack of any sane way to specify
devices.

This is not so easily fixed, but the patches contained in
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5696 do the job nicely.

Comments and suggestions are welcome, but, to be quite blunt, the
current situation has obviously (see bugs #347681, #349586, #347950,
#346460, #347677) caused problems with the userbase.

The patch in question should bring things back up to spec.
