When I close the lid, the laptop goes to sleep When I open it, the laptop awakes and the desktop appears, the screen is not locked With the GNOME 3 desktop, closing the lid automatically locks the screen, so it seems like a good idea for other window managers to replicate this behavior so users don't get caught out by surprise.
