Package: a2ps Version: 1:4.13b.dfsg.1-0.1 Severity: normal
Hello, 'a2ps' refuses to have anything to do with a file whose name contains the substring 'tar'. I'm guessing it was done to prevent people from trying to print tarballs, but the code is probably botched. Here is an example: ~/tmp>ls -la total 12 drwxr-xr-x 2 seb seb 4096 2006-01-30 11:05 . drwxr-xr-x 109 seb seb 8192 2006-01-30 11:05 .. ~/tmp>echo "hello" > hey ~/tmp>a2ps hey [hey (plain): 1 page on 1 sheet] request id is HP4050-546 (1 file(s)) [Total: 1 page on 1 sheet] sent to the default printer ~/tmp>echo "hello" > tariffs ~/tmp>a2ps tariffs [tariffs (binary): ignored] [No output produced] ~/tmp>ls -la total 20 drwxr-xr-x 2 seb seb 4096 2006-01-30 11:07 . drwxr-xr-x 109 seb seb 8192 2006-01-30 11:05 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 seb seb 6 2006-01-30 11:07 hey -rw-r--r-- 1 seb seb 6 2006-01-30 11:07 tariffs 'a2ps' refused to print the file 'tariffs' not because of its contents, but because of its name. When it is changed to 'traiffs' for instance, everything goes back to normal: ~/tmp>mv tariffs traiffs ~/tmp>a2ps traiffs [traiffs (plain): 1 page on 1 sheet] request id is HP4050-547 (1 file(s)) [Total: 1 page on 1 sheet] sent to the default printer Should be easy to fix :-) Thanks !
