Thanks for your report and follow-up.

>From your description it seems there is something wrong with the way
icewm deals with system tray (it's especially strange that a warm
restart doesn't solve the problem).  As I don't use icewm myself, I'm a
little confused, does the window manager also manage the system tray
and/or notification area?  I'll think a little more and reassign as
appropriate.
