I finally got around to building a debian packages of alsaplayer from

Interesting. I tried recompiling again on my system (in my up-to-date pbuilder environment), and it still crashes.

I ran it under gdb, and it says that it crashed in the cddb_local_lookup() function.

/* Note to self:
#0  0xb7bd5c08 in cddb_local_lookup ()
   from /usr/lib/alsaplayer/input/libcdda.so
#1 0xb7bd6fb8 in cddb_update_info () from /usr/lib/alsaplayer/input/libcdda.so
#2  0xb7bd817b in input_plugin_info ()
   from /usr/lib/alsaplayer/input/libcdda.so
#3  0x0805c426 in CorePlayer::Open ()
#4  0xb71f1aa2 in cd_cb ()
   from /usr/lib/alsaplayer/interface/libgtk_interface.so
...
*/

I then installed the official alsaplayer -7 packages and I get the same
segfault. I'm still using gcc-3.4 for smaller binaries. You don't
think it could be a compiler issue, do you? I thought those problems
were all worked out. I suppose I could try gcc-4.0 and see if it makes
a difference.

If you could try that, that would be great.

Are all your other libraries up to date too?
