Package: texlive-latex-recommended,texlive-latex-recommended-doc Version: 2016.20170123-1 Severity: important User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts replaces-without-breaks
Hi, during a test with piuparts and DOSE tools I noticed your package causes removal of files that also belong to another package. This is caused by using Replaces without corresponding Breaks. The installation sequence to reproduce this problem is apt-get install $VICTIM # (1) apt-get install $OFFENDER apt-get remove $OFFENDER # (2) for VICTIM texlive-latex-extra-doc=2016.20161130-1 OFFENDER texlive-latex-recommended-doc=2016.20170123-1 and VICTIM texlive-latex-extra=2016.20161130-1 OFFENDER texlive-latex-recommended=2016.20170123-1 Note that these are valid partial stretch->sid upgrades. The list of installed files at points (1) and (2) should be identical, but the following files have disappeared: 4m35.6s ERROR: FAIL: After purging files have disappeared: /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/filehook/filehook-fink.sty owned by: texlive-latex-recommended /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/filehook/filehook-listings.sty owned by: texlive-latex-recommended /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/filehook/filehook-memoir.sty owned by: texlive-latex-recommended /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/filehook/filehook-scrlfile.sty owned by: texlive-latex-recommended /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/filehook/filehook.sty owned by: texlive-latex-recommended /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/filehook/pgf-filehook.sty owned by: texlive-latex-recommended 4m35.6s ERROR: FAIL: After purging files have been modified: /var/lib/dpkg/info/texlive-latex-extra.list not owned 3m9.4s ERROR: FAIL: After purging files have disappeared: /usr/share/doc/texlive-doc/latex/filehook/README owned by: texlive-latex-recommended-doc /usr/share/doc/texlive-doc/latex/filehook/filehook.pdf owned by: texlive-latex-recommended-doc 3m9.4s ERROR: FAIL: After purging files have been modified: /var/lib/dpkg/info/texlive-latex-extra-doc.list not owned This is a serious bug violating policy 7.6, see https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-replaces and also see the footnote that describes this incorrect behavior https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/footnotes.html#f53 Filing only as important to not block migration before the freeze. Please add Breaks matching all Replaces in the next upload. cheers, Andreas
