It is perfectly reproducible here. However, when I remove the comments in the "for" loop in debian/rules, it builds. ii bash 3.1-1 ii make 3.80-9 I'm not sure about comment syntax in lines concatenated with backslashes... might be a difference in how "make" passes this multiline command to bash.
