Dear Maintainer, *** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? I had a font package installed locally (under home/fonts) superseeding the system installed times new roman font packages. the local one was uncomplete for some reason, leading to weird substitution. the problem is, there are no soft for finding out where your fonts are located for real. like fc-list would only report one location for the font whereas there were 2 indeed, which the font viewer showed but without telling you were the font is located... * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I tried to installe fontmatrix for that, not installable for stretch, so compiled it to figure out where those fonts were * What was the outcome of this action? succesfull but it was like using a gatling gun to blow a candle * What outcome did you expect instead? gnome-font viewer to indicate me the font directory it was from *** End of the template - remove these template lines *** -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (101, 'testing'), (10, 'experimental'), (10, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages gnome-font-viewer depends on: ii libatk1.0-0 2.22.0-1 ii libc6 2.24-9 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.14.8-1 ii libcairo2 1.14.8-1 ii libfontconfig1 2.11.0-6.7 ii libfreetype6 2.6.3-3+b1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.36.4-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.50.2-2 ii libgnome-desktop-3-12 3.22.2-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.22.7-2 ii libharfbuzz0b 1.4.2-1 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.40.3-3 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.40.3-3 gnome-font-viewer recommends no packages. gnome-font-viewer suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
