Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot worked: [O] Configure network HW: [O] Config network: [O] Detect CD: [O] Load installer modules: [O] Detect hard drives: [E] Partition hard drives: [E] Create file systems: [ ] Mount partitions: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Reboot: [ ] Comments/Problems: I can't install 2.6.8. Hard disk not
detected.
(I have however been able to install 2.4.27 but
this gives me some USB problems so I want
to
get a more recent kernel in place.)
When trying to install with boot parameter
"linux26"
the installation stops during the partition phase
with the message "No partitionable media were
found".
(If I have a floppy in my USB floppy drive or have
my
external USB Maxtor hard drive powered on the installation
program suggests that I partition these devices
but
the program can't find my internal hard
disk)
My hard disk is a Hitachi Travelstar 7K60
model HTS726060M9AT00 60GB interface an ATA-6
interface.
According to WindowsXP control panel the IDE
ATA/ATAPI-control
unit is an Intel 82801FBM Ultra ATA stroage Controllers -
2653.
There are also a primary and secondary
IDE-channel.
You should also know that I am a GNU/Linux
beginner.
Best regards
