Package: kernel-package
Version: 10.033
Severity: wishlist

Hi!

According to the manpage, the current kernel-package provides no option to
force a build link pointing to the installed linux-headers-* directory, if
the original build dir still exists. This is really annoying in two of my
setups:

First, on my laptop I'm occasionally building *-rc* kernels for testing.
Hence, the old kernel tree of a stable kernel is no longer available and
building of external modules fails when switching back to a previously
compiled stable kernel.

Second, I'm compiling and installing kernels in a chroot-environment and
this image is copied to many different computers. To save space, I don't
copy the kernel source and this leaves a dangling symlink in the copy
because at installation time the original kernel source was present.

Please provide a really_force_build_link ;-) option with one of the next
kernel-package version.

regards,
Joerg
