I have just tested netboot installs on my em64t system - which also has both a normal ethernet NIC and a firewire NIC - using both amd64 and i386 images and in both cases: - the netboot was successful - the NIC connected to the network was detected correctly - I got a lease from my DHCP server correctly - the Release file was loaded correctly - additional installer components were loaded correctly My conclusion: the problem you have is local.
