The problem seems to have arisen with the new libc6 package, 2.23. Previous versions of libc6 didn't pose problem. I thus guess it's a change of behavior in libc6 that triggered the issue. > The story of mbrola is really becoming a tragedy. Yes, but that's what you can only expect by relying on non-free software, unfortunately. I know the begins and ends of all this, and I can still only say that. > but there seems to be no working 64 bit version available. That's a completely separate issue, and you found the corresponding information. > 3) Luckily enough newer versions of the software are available. No, these are the same binaries: 3.01h > I have no idea how these versions are maintained, generated and who > has access to the official sources. Only the University of Mons has the officiel sources. > 4) The official 64-bit version from the main website (AMD64) is indeed 64 > bit. But as explained, don't work, thus using the 32bit version. But the problem really is not there: that same binary crashes all the same on a 32bit box. > Till now no-one has come up with an idea.. [7] Did anyone think about just mailing Thierry DUTOIT <[email protected]> ? He is the only one who can do anything about it. Yes, that's what happens with non-free software. In the meanwhile, since it crashes at exit, I will upload an ugly workaround that makes exit just exit without trying to clean. Samuel
