When attempting to encode GIF files into mpeg, ffmpeg aborts with the
following error:

The command used was of this form:
ffmpeg -f image -i foo%04d.gif bar.mpg

The '-f image' was required. Without it, ffmpeg failed to recognize the
input file format.
