Package: pcmcia-cs Version: 3.2.8-5.2 Severity: wishlist
Hi. Because i'm not very sure, and i didn't do a lot of test, i filled this bug as "wishlist". Running sid here, with kernel 2.6.12 (debian image), i noticed that next pcmcia-cs package upgrade could be kernel incompatible. pcmcia-cs now depends from pcmciautils that require 2.6.13 (in init script i got an error message saying that), and i think it isn't backward compatible. AFAIK, this is not a good thing. I hope not to filled this bug for my mistake, but i'd like to have a more confortable way to handle this situation. I promptly installed pcmcia-cs from testing and unistalled pcmciautils, but i don't make testing on pcmcia-cs functionality (just want it back card support). If i'm not in error, may I suggest that we need some other way (dunno, a transitional package? dual package one before and one post kernel 2.6.13?) to have support for both kernel (pre and post 2.6.13)?
