I reported this bug upstream (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=777862), where it was determined that the issue is a missing gstreamer-1.0-pulseaudio plugin.
Doing: $ sudo apt-get -y install gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio Allows gnome-sound-recorder to record audio. I've attached a patch to add this to the package's runtime dependencies, which should solve the issue. -- -Austin GPG: 14FB D7EA A041 937B
