I am sorry, but I cannot remember when the bug appeared for the first time...
Thanks to google search history, I would say that it was on October 19th, 2016, 
or probably few days before that. I am not sure how to find which package was 
updated then...
I thought the bug was transient, and I did not test since that time : with the 
upcoming release of stretch, I thought it would have been fixed, so I just 
tested again and decided to file the bug this time...

I wonder if it was due to systemd or the increasing integration of wayland in 
debian?

I hope this helps... That is not a lot of "version context", but I can at least 
try anything you want if you need more information/tests!

What was the last systemd version that worked for you?
Were other components of the system upgraded during that time?
