I've went back as far as libgtkglext1 version 1.2.0-1 (Squeeze had
1.2.0-1.1, Precise had 1.2.0-2fakesync1), i.e. I checked any version of
that package which could have triggered the issue why I added that
code. (libgtkglext1 back then was surely my example to test with,
otherwise that faux-pas wouldn't have happened.)
But I was not able to reproduce that issue anymore with any of the
libgtkglext1 versions between 1.2.0-1 and 1.2.0-4. (1.2.0-5 and 1.2.0-6
likely fixed that issue within the package itself.)
So I assume that there was a change in dpkg which fixed the symptoms
of the multiarch bug in libgtkglext1 and hence the bug I tried to fix
back then is no more reproducible.
Hence I'm reluctant to touch that code this far inside the freeze for
stretch. For stretch+1, I'll either apply your patch or remove that
code block again.
In case you or anyone else sees any impact of that coding error on
Debian Sid or Debian Stretch, please speak up and I'll try to fix that
in Debian Stretch.
Regards, Axel
