First, Manoj checked over every change i made, second the changes where just
to restructure the mapping from ppc/ppc64/powerpc over to the new post 2.6.14
ARCH change of the powerpc tree, i don't think they would have an effect here.

This probably means either the 8.00x -> 9.00x or 10.00x changes Manoj made,
which where rather far-ranging.

Do we know which was the latest version of kernel-package which built the
mips-tools package correctly ?
