It boils down to the system selecting a random handler for a specific MIME type if there is no default set. IMO your DE should be setting a suitable default file manager which users could then override if they want. In your case you can workaround this by setting the default yourself with "xdg-mime default XXX inode/directory" where XXX is the name of the desktop file you want to handle directories. What we really need is a way to prioritize MIME type associations, but I don't think that's possible at the moment. James
