   * What led up to the situation?
     I installed XScorch and ran it.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
     I tried to change the locale by running is with LANG=en_US.
     This fixed language issues, but did not fix the segfault.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
     XScorch closed on startup with a series of language-related
     errors and a segmenation fault.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
