I noticed in the changelog that the link was moved back to S18hwclockfirst over the last upload. As countless others have pointed out before, that is the wrong location to have it because checkroot ends up seeing timestamps that are in the future. Another issue is that bootlogd must provide a proper timeframe, in case it needs to be used as forensic evidence, which again implies that hwclockfirst must be run before that. Looking at the default order for Etch, it appears that S04 is the correct location for hwclockfirst, between S03udev and S05bootlogd. - -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (99, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.14-imac Locale: LANG=fi_FI.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages util-linux depends on: ii libc6 2.3.5-12.1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libncurses5 5.5-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libslang2 2.0.5-3 The S-Lang programming library - r ii libuuid1 1.38+1.39-WIP-2005.12.31-1 universally unique id library ii lsb-base 3.0-15 Linux Standard Base 3.0 init scrip ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-9 compression library - runtime util-linux recommends no packages. - -- no debconf information -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFD7bh6eXr56x4Muc0RArMhAJsEjQ5TOVJUgFpY08THMsjsQIQ3bQCfVzvd CM3GmygU3HdSJ/Qq3b3pID4= =8bbC -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
