I'm not using lightdm or stretch and it works fine under GNOME here, so it doesn't seem to be a problem specific to network-manager. Do you have dbus-user-session installed? A polkit agent successfully running in your desktop session? -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
