Would be great if you can further investigate. I don't think anyone from
the Debian GNOME team is still actively using sysvinit.
I'm happy to try and help, but don't really know where to start (I don't
know much about GNOME, and the error messages don't mean much to me).
Would you care to suggest things I should try and report back on, and/or
things that the init script might need updating to do (environment
variables / ...)?
