The first two suggestions (fc-cache and deleting ~/.cache/fontconfig) do not help, but the last one does.

Changing the value in debconf question in fontconfig also helped, correct?

If it's the case I'll already upload that, for freetype I should maybe add an entry in the NEWS file as well.
