Maybe it's a bashism or so, but
/usr/share/b2evolution/extras/setup-config: 36: Syntax error: Bad substitution
b2evolution fails to configure.
Try using makepasswd or something like that to generate passwords?
Or md5sum a chunk of data from /dev/random, whatever. Check what other
packages do...
