It seems alleyoops picks up the gnome-vfs dependency because of using libgnomeui which .pc file Requires: gnome-vfs and thus "leaks" the linkage to users of libgnomeui. Some work on removing libgnomeui dependencies (et.al.) seems to have already happened in alleyoop git master (in 2011). See https://git.gnome.org/browse/alleyoop/log/ Maybe if someone tested and reported on the state of the git master we could consider shipping a snapshot instead of latest release?
