Arjan's one-line patch to /usr/sbin/dwww-convert corrects this for me. I get the expected results for /usr/share/doc files, and no longer get the 500 error document in the browser nor the "AH02429: Response header name 'Last modified' contains invalid characters, aborting request" message in error.log
