Package: libgtk-3-common
Version: 3.22.11-1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
Following the upgrade from Jessie to Stretch, the icon for fdpowermon in my
system tray began to appear with a solid white (rather than transparent)
background. Transparency worked normally prior to the upgrade. The icon PNG
itself does have a treansparent base (verified in GIMP), but that transparency
is not respected when rendered in the tray. I am running Joe's Window Manager
(JWM) 2.6 over Xserver, no DE is installed. Lastly I should mention that this
issue is only present on one of my two machines; both of which run Debian
stable with the same JWM over X setup. fdpowermon behaves as expected on my
main laptop, but has the transparency issue on my netbook. THe only appreciable
differnse between the two that I can think of (other than hardware) is that the
netbook is older. Having originally been installed with Wheezy. The laptop
(which doesn't exhibit the errant icon behavior) was originally installed with
Jessie. Again, both are now running Stretch.
None of the following altered the behavior in any way:
-- restart X server (quit to terminal > startx)
-- reboot machine
-- reinstall package via apt install --reinstall
-- purge, autoremove, then install package
-- purge, autoremove, then install using alt fdpowermon-icons package
-- revert to previuos theme.cfg for fdpowermon
-- changing gtk themes with lxappearance
> tried Adwaita, Bluebird, High Contrast, Murrina, others
I contacted the mainter of the fdpowermon package directly and he was of the
opinion that the issue was likely gtk3 related, since the versions of
fdpowermon in Jessie and Stretch used gtk2 and gtk3 respectively. He encouraged
me to file a bug with gtk.
