Very interesting failure. On my normal run-time system there is no problem there. So my guess is that some dbuild/dpkg-buildpackage/pbuilder setup has changed recently, and created some unreachable directories or similar. The always changing dpkg&friends setup is really a PITA because it breaks other programs out of the blue. I have captured the full environment of building and set it to the same values, and still it builds without problems, but building it with dpkg-buildpackage or anything similar creates a segfault I don't see what else I can do to track this down unless dpkg maintainers chime in.
