Hm, seems you're right. Changing the default browser via update-alternative --config x-www-browser doesn't seem influence the behaviour of thunderbird when running under GNOME. Using gnome-control-center to change the default application to Web (epiphany), thunderbird does open links properly. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
