Bug filed as https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327294 Imagine you're using an application (e.g. irssi) in a terminal and a friend pastes a URL. You select it in order to copy it, open firefox, try to paste it and it fails! Same thing when I browsed the web, got an interesting URL, copied it, closed Firefox and wanted to paste it in my terminal. I am using a classical copy/paste method, that is to say selection and middle-button click. If Firefox is opened when performing copy/paste, there is no problem!
