This issue seems to have changed substantially. Following the previously described steps with the MWE, I can now reproduce the issue on both the animations (the one on slide 2/4 and the one on slide 3/4: the two rectangular area sizes no longer seem to make a difference). I no longer see the Gstreamer error messages on the terminal. Moreover, when the bug is triggered, the movies fail to be clickable and their placeholder images are treated just like normal images (clicking on them only takes the user to the next slide...). But when is the bug triggered? This is not too easy. I performed a number tests with the MWE. My test environment is a laptop in the following dual screen setup (internal screen + external VGA screen): xrandr \ --output LVDS-1 --primary --mode 1366x768 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal \ --output HDMI-1 --off \ --output DP-1 --off \ --output VGA-1 --mode 1600x900 --pos 1366x0 --rotate normal In the following tests, I tried to start pdfpc and play the movies by clicking on the corresponding areas on the internal screen and/or on the external screen. Here are the results. Starting pdfpc from a terminal running in the internal screen: $ pdfpc wave_presentation.pdf # OK internal ; fails external $ pdfpc -S wave_presentation.pdf # OK internal $ pdfpc -Ss wave_presentation.pdf # fails internal $ pdfpc -s wave_presentation.pdf # fails internal ; OK external Starting pdfpc from a terminal running in the external screen: $ pdfpc wave_presentation.pdf # OK internal ; fails external $ pdfpc -S wave_presentation.pdf # OK external $ pdfpc -Ss wave_presentation.pdf # fails external $ pdfpc -s wave_presentation.pdf # fails internal ; OK external It seems to me that the problem is now that the movie areas are no longer clickable in the audience screen, while they are clickable in the presenter screen (and, when clicked in the presenter screen, they correctly cause the movie to be played on all active screens). If this is confirmed, I think the issue should be fixed by making the movie areas clickable again on all active screens (not only on the presenter screen, but also on the audience screen, whenever it is active).
