Package: openssh-client Version: 1:4.2p1-5 Severity: wishlist As distributed (up to version 4.3p1), OpenSSH limits its TCP connections to a buffer size of 64k. This dramatically limits the bandwidth that can be achieved by ssh, or scp, or rsync using ssh as a transport mechanism. On typical networks, like a 100Mb transatlantic connection, the slowdown can be a factor of ten.
The problem is addressed by a little patch: High Performance SSH/SCP - HPN-SSH http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/hpn-ssh/ It would be nice if we could considerer incorporating this patch. -- Barak A.
