Package: texlive-full Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Hi,
Installing texlive-full is easy for users who don't know about which texlive package is necessary for his/her purpose. However, it pulls whole documentation for texlive, too. Some users just install texlive-full because they don't have enough knowledge but want to build documentation with other sources. Then, TeXLive document pakcages are 1.1GB download size and it's too much for them. > Package: texlive-metapost-doc > Download-Size: 30.6 MB > > Package: texlive-publishers-doc > Download-Size: 124 MB > > Package: texlive-science-doc > Download-Size: 50.0 MB > > Package: texlive-fonts-recommended-doc > Download-Size: 2,660 kB > > Package: texlive-humanities-doc > Download-Size: 19.6 MB > > Package: texlive-latex-extra-doc > Download-Size: 384 MB > > Package: texlive-fonts-extra-doc > Download-Size: 83.7 MB > > Package: texlive-pstricks-doc > Download-Size: 248 MB > > Package: texlive-latex-recommended-doc > Download-Size: 39.8 MB > > Package: texlive-pictures-doc > Download-Size: 111 MB > > Package: texlive-latex-base-doc > Download-Size: 45.8 MB So, I propose you to split texlive-full package to two packages: texlive-full-utils and texlive-full-docs. Users who don't need to read any docs, just install texlive-full-utils is handy and simple. Proposed patch attached. -- Regards, Hideki Yamane henrich @ debian.or.jp/org http://wiki.debian.org/HidekiYamane
